The Great Destroyer is the seventh studio album by American indie rock band Low. It was released on January 25, as their first recording on Sub Pop Records. "California", a song about Sparhawk's mother, was released as the album's first single, backed with a demo of "Cue the Strings"/5(4).

The band’s seventh full-length album, The Great Destroyer is fascinating in that it blends the band’s austere melodies (“On the Edge Of,” “Silver Rider”) with an aggressive guitar onslaught (“Monkey,” “Everybody’s Song”) and even melds Low’s varied styles together into a single song (“When I Go Deaf”).

May 25,  · This might outrage the longtime fans but I really have to say this, This is the band’s weakest record ever, there is not even a single good track (minus California and Monkey, the first two tracks, and maybe Death of a Salesman) First of all, the idea of making an alternative rock/pop punk-esque record seems good at paper but when it came to the process it turned out to be bland and dull /5().
