So I think this record is not so great as compared to "Ritchie's Blackmore Rainbow", "Rising", "Long live rock and roll" which came out in the 70s. It was the time when Dio was singing for the band. However, "Straight between the eyes" may be regarded as one of the best hard rock LPs in the 80s mainly due to the music content/5().

By replacing capable musicians with lesser ones album by album since Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll (with the exception of Roger Glover), the quality of Rainbow’s albums had been slowly declining along with its musicians. Straight Between the Eyes continues this decline.

Rainbow second album from the '80's named Straight between the eyes from is a straight hard rock album to my ears. Even the prog leanings from Rising and Long live r'n'r are gone, leaving place to a more mainstream aproach and less chalenging music, but overall not bad/5(14).

Rainbow's sixth studio album "Straight Between The Eyes", which was named after a description of Jimi Hendrix made to Ritchie Blackmore by Jeff Beck, was recorded in Canada at the back end of and featured just the one personnel change from the previous album "Difficult To Cure". Namely David Rosenthal replacing Don Airey on the keyboards.
